Baz, I was in the lower Rous with a group of Clermont fans of all ages and to a man and woman they were all bouncing up and down and singing at the top of their voices with the rest of them. One particular older chap looked like his knees could give way at any moment but on he bounced.

Age has nothing to do with it, they come from a region where such flamboyance and over-enthusiasm will draw no funny looks or annoyance from anyone.If you bounce up and down and sing at a premiership game people will tut, look at you like you've forgotten your meds and probably get a steward to tell you to sit down and shut-up.

Unfortunately such support as Clermont's is just not the British way.

You'd have a hard job stopping our lot from moaning long enough to sing anyway.

Moaning is the British way.

Clermont fans are now my favourite fans of any sport in the world. Noisy, vibrant and very friendly to boot.

I hope they smash Leinster for their fans alone (although don't tell Mrs JCL I said that).
